Introduction :
Real Madrid who won the Champions League last season but only finished third in La Liga will start their season against city rival Getafe at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. Real Madrid played in the Super Cup against Atletico Madrid but they failed to win the trophy. Getafe will have one aim and that is to repeat last season's good performances when they finished eight in the standings.

They did managed to win in the Champions League again, beating Liverpool in the process and now they have set the standards that would be hard for any team to follow. At the start of the season they failed to win the European Super Cup as they lost to city rivals Atletico Madrid.
That was the first test for new coach Lopetegui, and the first match without Ronaldo in their side. They did not play very well and were poor in defense. Ronaldo's absence was not felt much in attack but Modric did give an outstanding performance but he is not likely to start this match now.
Getafe:
They needed three points to get into the Europa League, and that just shows how successful their comeback season was from this team that comes from Madrid. They eventually finished eight in the standings which was a good achievement in itself. Now their target is to just stay for another season in the top flight and anything elese after that is a bonus.
There were changes in the side, namely goalkeeper Soria from Sevilla, while they have a new striker in J.Mata who has returned from Valladolid. They have brought in midfielder Maksimovic as well as center-backs Miquel and Alanis, while at right back is Alejo. Midfielder Bergara is injured and will not play, while Soria, Maksimovic and J.Mata should be in their starting eleven.
