Football: Spanish La Liga
22nd December 2018 – Kickoff 18:30 [Barcelona, Spain Time]
Introduction :
Leaders Barcelona welcome the visit of Celta Vigo in to spot for this clash and they are separated by 13 points in the standings. Barcelona have won their last three games in a row and are favourites to get the win against the visitors who have only managed seven points in their last three games.
Barcelona
The Catalans have won their last three games after a bad spell which saw them win just three La Liga games in nine matches. Their 5-0 win at Levante added with a 2-0 home win over Villarreal and a 4-0 victory at city rivals Espanyol saw them strengthening their position at the top by three points ahead of the likes of Sevilla and Atletico Madrid who both have 31 points each.
Barcelona have managed to win three out of their last six home games at the Nou Camp. In their last home match they beat Villarreal by 2-0. Prior to that they were surprisingly beaten by Real Betis 3-4. Barcelona did hammer Real Madrid 5-1 in the El Clasico.
The player to watch will obviously be Lionel Messi who has scored five goals in his last three matches against Celta Vigo and has scored five goals in his last two La Liga games.
Celta Vigo:
Celta Vigo are a dangerous side and under new boss Miguel Cardoso from three games they have collected seven points and they are now in the top half of the standings sitting in tenth spot. They do not play well away with just one win in their last six away games.
Celta Vigo's last three away games have seen them managed a draw with Real Betis 3-3, lost to Real Sociedad 2-1 and beat Villarreal 2-3. They did managed a good 2-2 draw in this fixture last season but that and the win back in November 2014, they have fared miserably at the Nou Camp losing by heavy margins.
The player to watch for Celta Vigo will be Iago Aspas. Since returning to their side in the summer of 2015, he has scored 65 La Liga goals and this season he has scored 10 goals. He scored in both league games against Barcelona last season and will be eager to continue that trend in today's match.
Past Meetings:
When they last met in April, it ended in a 2-2 draw as goals from Johnny Castro and Iago Aspas rescued a point for Celta Vigo. At the Nou Camp it also amazingly ended in a 2-2 draw last December.
The Pick:
Take FC Barcelona to win by 3+ goal margin and give the 2 3/4 ball Asian Handicap.
