Football: Italy Serie A
26th December 2018 – Kickoff 12:30 [Frosinone, Italy Time]
Introduction :
Frosinone in 19th spot welcomes the visit of AC Milan in 5th spot but the visitors are in crisis and if they do not win their last two games before the calendar year then they could even dismiss Gennaro Gattuso from the the team. The home side meanwhile managed to picked up a point after they appointed Marco Baroni into the team.
Frosinone
Frosinone decided to terminate the services of Moreno Longo after he managed just one win all season, which was a 0-3 away win against SPAL.
In his place they brought in former Benevento boss Marco Baroni into the team. In his debut managed he managed to inspire Frosinone to a draw away to fellow relegation strugglers Udinese. Their goal came after Camillo Ciano converted from the penalty spot.
Frosinone will be up against it as they have not won any of their Serie A games at home and after three straight draws at home they lost their last match at home to Sassuolo by 0-2.
Frosinone drew with Empoli 3-3 and then also with Fiorentina and Cagliari (both by 1-1) before their last match defeat to Sassuolo by 0-2.
As for the team news, Luca Paganini, Federico Dionisi and Emil Hallfredssonare all long term absentees while Joel Campbell and Rai Vloet be relegated to the bench after their poor performances.
Baroni will make a decision whether to field Andrea Pinamonti or Daniel Ciofan to partner Ciano in attack, while Francesco Zampano and Andrea Beghetto are favourites to start at wing back.
AC Milan:
Over the last few weeks the Milan performances have dropped. They dropped out of the Europa League after losing to Olympiacos and they also failed to scored in three consecutive Serie A games for the first time since 2001 and have now dropped behind Lazio in fifth place in Serie A.
There has been news report that Coach Gattuso has two games to save his job or else Wenger could be brought in to replace him. He must win this match as well as the December 29 meeting with SPAL and do so with better and more convincing performances then they have displayed lately.
Their problem is finding goals. And if they fail to score in this match then it would be their longest goalless streak since 1984. In their last Serie A matches there have only been three goals, and that includes a Lazio own goal and a Franck Kessie penalty. Patrick Cutrone last scored from open play against Parma on December 2.
Their signing from Juventus, Gonzalo Higuain is on his worse run of goalless run playing for an Italian club, but he has a good record playing against Frosinone. When playing for Napoli, he did scored a hat trick to set the new all-time record for 36 goals in a single Serie A season.
Milan have won only two out of their last Serie A games on their travels. Since beating Udinese by 0-1 away from home, they drew with Lazio 1-1 and also Bologna 0-0 in their last two games on the road.
As for the team news, Franck Kessie and Tiemoue Bakayoko returns from suspension, but they are still without the likes of Fabio Borini, Andrea Bertolacci, Lucas Biglia, Mattia Caldara and Giacomo Bonaventura through injuries. Andrea Conti could come into the match as a substitute after making his return after more then a year on the sidelines with a knee problem.
Gattuso is likely to go with a 4-3-3 formation with Suso and Hakan Calhanoglu supporting Higuain upfront as Patrick Cutrone is relegated to the bench.
Past Meetings:
Back in 2015 when they travelled to Frosinone, Milan beat them by 2-4, but in 2016 they drew in Milan by 3-3.
The Pick:
Go for AC Milan and give the 3/4 ball Asian Handicap.
