Football : UEFA Champions League
16th April 2019 – Kickoff time 21:00 [Barcelona, Spain Time]
Introduction :
The first leg at Old Trafford didn't lived up to its hype but Barcelona has a slim lead through Luke Shaw's own goal and they will start as favourites in this match as they will have home ground advantage at the Nou Camp. Barcelona drew against Huesca in their last match after the first leg, while Manchester United beat West Ham in the Premier League.
FC Barcelona
They have one foot in the semi finals after winning the first leg. They played Atletico Madrid a few days before the match with Manchester United and won that match by 2-0 and they are almost assured of the La Liga title now.
Barcelona went into the first leg with full of confidence and with their best team and their fans can be happy as they kept a clean sheet and also have an advantage through a Luke Shaw's own goal.
But they will be aware of what Manchester United is capable of as they did made a miracle comeback against PSG and will want to make sure that does not happen here to them. It has to be said that they played with their second team against Huesca with the title almost assured and paid the price with a goalless draw in that match. Mlost importantly they kept a clean sheet for their third match and will now play with their strongest team, although Messi is rated doubtful, but he should play a part at some point in the match.
Manchester United:
The Red Devils will be hoping lighting can strike twice and despite failing to play well at home, they did made a comeback in Paris and beat PSG at their own grounds and will now be hoping to do something similar against Barcelona at the Nou Camp.
Now it is a bit easier compared to the PSG match as they only conceded one goal, which was an own goal by Luke Shaw, although Barcelona is a very much stronger side then PSG and they will be playing at the Nou Camp, which holds a lot of good memories for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, as that was where he won the Champions League with Manchester United in 1999 against Bayern Munich.
Last weekend they did beat West Ham United at home, and although it was a less then convincing victory, the win will still give them a good encouragement for their match against Barcelona. Paul Pogba scored both their goals and interestingly they both were from the penalty spot. They rested a few first team players in that match, while some players were not fully fit.
As for the team news, Luke Shaw will miss this match as he is suspended, while Matic and Herrera are rated doubtful with injuries.
