Blackburn Rovers slumped to a third defeat in four games in the Championship in last weekend’s heavy 4-0 defeat away from home at Southampton which followed previous losses to Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United and although Rovers registered a 2-1 home win against Bristol City, the losses have outweighed recent success.
As a result, Blackburn have dropped down the Championship table to 11th place to near the midway point which is about right as the hosts have been extremely inconsistent throughout the whole of this Championship campaign, picking up 10 wins, drawing once and losing the other 11, so it’s very difficult to predict an outcome here.
However, Blackburn have lost more than they’ve won to date at Ewood Park as they’ve won five but lost six of their 11 home games so far, while the bigger picture shows Rovers have won just five of their last 16 home games overall.
Watford moved up into 9th place on the Championship table following their crushing 5-1 victory away from home against Preston NE and although The Hornets suffered defeats to the likes of Leicester City and Ipswich Town, these are no disgrace as they both sit in the automatic promotion spots in the division.
Recent results overall though will give Watford plenty of encouragement for this upcoming trip to Ewood Park as the visitors have lost just twice in their previous 12 games which also includes Watford picking up six wins and four draws in the process, so they will have their tails up for this one.
In addition, after making a slow and disappointing start away from home this season, Watford have staged a recovery by losing just once in their last six outings on the road and collecting three wins along the way with victories at Swansea City, Hull City and the aforementioned Preston NE demolition.
