Match Preview
Roma and Juventus face off in a big Italian derby that neither side wants to play at this moment. Juventus doesn't really care about derbies at this point as they want the season to finish, and Roma has a mountain to climb in the Europa League against Bayer Leverkusen as they lost the first game at home.
Roma Team News
As was often the case in big games this season, Roma has been found out, and just suffered a crushing 0-2 home defeat to Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League semifinals. The offense doesn't work with Lukaku struggling to find form as he's constantly having some injury problems.
In the last 13 competitive matches Roma played, Lukaku played nine, and only has one goal and one assist. He was notably quiet in the match against Bayer, and when it's like that, Roma are toothless, even with Tammy Abraham back.
Juventus Team News
Juventus failed to beat Milan in the derby that could have resulted with a renewed attempt to steal back the 2nd spot from the bitter rivals, but had 18 shots, 7 on target, while Milan did nothing against this stout team.
The season is not a disappointment but not a particularly good one either. At least Juventus didn't suffer any shock defats, coaching changes, and the like. There was a minor slump but this workhorse team keeps picking up points at a decent pace.
Recently, only Cagliari was able to lure Juventus into a high scoring game, and the 2-2 makes for the majority of goals in Juventus' matches lately. The other four of the last five had a grand total of two goals between them.
Probable Lineups
Roma (4-3-3): Svilar - Celik, Llorente, Ndicka, Angelino - Pellegrini, Paredes, Cristante - Dybala, Lukaku, Zalewski. Coach De Rossi.
Juventus (3-5-2): Szczesny - Gatti, Bremer, Danilo - Cambiaso, Mckennie, Locatelli, Rabiot, Alcaraz - Vlahovic, Chiesa. Coach Allegri.
Dybala is fully fit and so is Abraham. It seems Zalewski will get the nod on the left flank at the expense of El Sharaawy. Roma plays 4-3-3 in derbies too, in hope of making the game an open exchange of blows, but it rarely works, you don't look good in offense simply by fielding three offensive players.
Juventus will use the same lineup as usual.
The Betting Market
Juventus is a slight favourite in an evenly-priced match, and that sounds about right as this is still a superior side that's good in all areas of the pitch. Roma is not.
The Betting Verdict
We can count on Juventus to do what other teams are doing and make sure Lukaku stays harmless, because if you do that, then Roma can't really score. On the other hand, Juventus isn't really an offensive juggernaut either, so we can safely expect a tight game with some half-chances but no big openings. You know, the standard Juventus derby. These two sides might make a mockery of the 1.61 price on the Unders. Expect to see a 0-1 or 1-1 final score here.
