Le Havre ended a miserable six-match losing streak in the French top flight last weekend when they registered a vitally important 1-0 home win against Montpellier and the hosts will be keen to build upon that rare victory this Sunday when they entertain Reims at their Stade Océane.
One thing perhaps in Le Havre’s favour is that out of the previous six defeats inflicted upon Didier Digard’s side, four of these were incurred away from home while only two were dealt out to the hosts at their Stade Océane.
Defeats at home to Lille and Lyon were obviously disappointing but earlier in the season, Le Havre had picked up two wins within their opening three games of the new Ligue 1 campaign which consisted of victories over the likes of Saint-Etienne and Auxerre.
Le Havre have only managed three wins within their last seven home games though so it may be best to utilise the asian handicap on the hosts.
Reims had produced an encouraging start to their Ligue 1 campaign as the visitors slipped to just a single loss within their opening seven games overall, that being an opening day 2-0 defeat at home to Lille.
However, the visitors then cobbled together a useful looking six-match unbeaten run in the domestic top flight which comprised of four wins and two draws; victories against Rennes, Nantes, Angers and Montpellier had helped Reims to within touching distance of the European spots but three recent defeats on the trot have stalled their progress.
Losses at the hands of Auxerre, Brest and Toulouse respectively, all of which currently reside in the lower half of the Ligue 1 table has resulted in Reims dropping down to 8th place in the Ligue 1 table.
In addition, Reims have registered just two wins from their previous 10 outings on the road, slipping to four losses.
The Betting Verdict
Given Reims’ recent dismal results on the road, Le Havre stand a chance with the handicap in this clash.
