Wrexham will entertain West Brom in their opening home game of this season’s Championship campaign with the hosts looking to bounce back from their 2-1 defeat away from home at Southampton last week.
Wrexham looked like edging themselves towards all three points down on the south coast last Saturday but The Saints scored two quick-fire goals in injury time to deny Phil Parkinson’s side an opening win.
Nevertheless, The Dragons progressed through to the next round of the EFL Cup thanks to a win on penalties against Hull City after the scores were level at 3-3 after the 90 minutes and further goals could be in store this Saturday lunchtime.
West Brom also picked up all three points in last week’s opening fixture in the Championship at The Hawthorns as they registered a 1-0 home win against Blackburn Rovers but The Baggies made an early exit from the EFL Cup in midweek.
The west midlands club were sent crashing out of the cup competition on penalties by Derby County after the scores were level at 1-1 after normal time and it’s interesting to note that both teams scored in each of West Brom’s four pre-season games as well.
New boss Ryan Mason is in his first job as manager and his brief will be pushing West Brom up into the play-off places in this season’s Championship but this upcoming trip to Wales could be a tricky assignment for The Baggies.
