Lille were dealt a disappointing 1-0 defeat away from home at Nantes in Ligue 1 just before the international break which also became a second loss in three games overall for Sunday evening’s hosts who will now need to dust themselves down ahead of this upcoming encounter against Lens.
After putting together a solid and consistent looking run of 14 games without a defeat in the French top flight, Lille have produced a mixed bag of results in Ligue 1 in subsequent times as Bruno Génésio’s side have racked up four wins but they have also been dealt four defeats as well.
Recent wins against Saint-Etienne, Rennes, Monaco and Montpellier have been offset by slipping to losses to the likes of Strasbourg, Le Havre, PSG and Nantes respectively and this recent inconsistent run suggests Lille may face a tricky evening on Sunday.
Lens will be searching for a third league win on the trot in the domestic top flight on Sunday evening at the Decathlon Arena as the visitors have recently picked up back-to-back wins against Marseille and Rennes respectively.
These wins will have been gratefully received by Lens who had previously suffered a four-game losing streak in Ligue 1 with losses incurred against Nice, Strasbourg, Nantes and Le Havre, so they too look like they may struggle to pick up all three points in this Sunday night’s encounter.
However, Lens do look capable of walking away from the Decathlon Arena with some sort of result as Will Still’s side have been handed just three defeats on their travels throughout the whole of this season’s Ligue 1 campaign as well as picking up six wins and four draws.
