RB Leipzig
RB Leipzig’s new coach, Zsolt Löw, didn’t have much time to prepare his team for the midweek Cup clash against VfB Stuttgart, which they lost 3-1. That was RB Leipzig’s sixth winless game in seven competitive matches, so they have been in awful form.
Former coach Marco Rose was sacked last week, so things should now look differently in the Bundesliga. RB Leipzig has only seven games left to salvage the season and try to enter the top four. They are currently sixth on the table but just two points behind the fourth, so we should expect them to be fully focused on their remaining league games.
RB Leipzig’s recent Bundesliga matches were mostly tight, with all of their last three ending with under 2.5 goals.
Veteran midfielder Kevin Kampl is expected back in the line-up after recovering from an infection. Other changes are possible, and some rotation is expected from the midweek cup game.
TSG Hoffenheim
TSG Hoffenheim has failed to win any of their last three Bundesliga games, drawing twice. Last week, they played a 1-1 draw against Augsburg, which was a solid point, keeping them at some distance over the relegation spots.
TSG Hoffenheim is five points above the relegation playoff spot, and I believe they will avoid the drop. However, they need at least couple of wins from their remaining seven games, and they have a very tough schedule – RB Leipzig, Mainz, SC Freiburg, Borussia Dortmund, Borussia Monchengladbach, Wolfsburg and Bayern Munich are their remaining opponents. Apart from Dortmund, all are teams from the top half.
Similarly to RB Leipzig, TSG Hoffenheim’s recent games were also mostly low-scoring. All their last five matches ended with under 2.5 goals scored.
The Betting Verdict
TSG Hoffenheim beat RB Leipzig 4-3 in their first duel this season, but RB Leipzig has won all their last four duels played in Leipzig.
RB Leipzig may be struggling for some time, but they have remained unbeaten in five of their last six home matches, losing only to Mainz.
This looks like a perfect game to bounce back and return to winning, so I recommend backing RB Leipzig to win at fair odds.
