Salford City have produced a bit of a mixed bag of results so far this season as Karl Robinson’s side have won, lost and effectively drawn their opening three games of the new campaign, but they’ll be hoping to return to winning ways this Saturday against Accrington Stanley.
An opening day 3-1 loss at home to Crewe Alexandra was not the sort of start Robinson and his players had in mind before the season began but The Ammies did bounce back last weekend with a 2-1 win away from home at Notts County in League Two.
A midweek loss on penalties to League One club Rotherham United was no disgrace but the upcoming hosts will want to make sure of all three points at their Peninsula Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Accrington Stanley have enjoyed early success so far this season in the EFL Cup as the visitors have registered wins against Oldham Athletic and Peterborough United in the 1st and 2nd rounds of the competition.
However, both wins were recorded on home soil at their Crown Ground while early form in League Two has been less convincing following a draw at home with Gillingham before suffering a 2-0 loss away from home at Crewe Alexandra.
In addition, Accrington Stanley finished last season’s League Two campaign with a fairly ordinary looking away record of 7-3-13 24/38, so this could be a tricky outing for Stanley on Saturday.
