Cremonese did the unthinkable and shocked AC Milan, their Lombardian neighbour, on San Siro on the first day of their Serie A life after getting promoted from Serie B.
Of course the newspapers were full of negatives towards AC Milan, but it was just one of those days, it's football, it's how big favourites lose at home. Variance. Milan had tons of chances but no composure whatsoever in the penalty box, while Federico Bonazzoli scored a miraculous scissor kick that is as undefensible as Daniel LaRusso's crane kick.
What we learned from that game is that Cremonese can soak up pressure with decent success and that they can be a menace in offense if things go their way, even in a challenging visiting match.
It's safe to assume that Cremonese will adopt a similar approach here and will try to search for a confident defensive performance first. They have a chance to have six points after two rounds, sure, but this will likely be a much more difficult game for them than the Milan visit where they had nothing to lose.
Sassuolo Team News
We expected more from Sassuolo at home to Napoli in the season debut, but there was no fireworks at all, just a confident 0-2 win for the true champions. Conte's teams don't really let you have very much of the game so Sassuolo never got going.
This team certainly has more in store than what they've shown last week. Domenico Berardi and the rest of the team will certainly want to make good for a lousy performance by winning three points here against a much weaker opponent.
Sassuolo, even in their best days when they were defeating Inter and Juventus, was never a steady team that you can rely on. Never a steady performer even when favoured. So get that thought out of your head. From Sassuolo you can only expect the unexpected, they'll win when they want to.
But we have a fairly good idea that they'll play this game on the front foot.
