Parma Team News
Parma did little more than frustrate Juventus in Turin by the refusal to concede a goal. This is as far as it goes. Parma only had 36% possession, and did little with it too, while on the other end they conceded 25 shots, 8 on target, 6 of which were collected by the incredible Zion Suzuki. However, the outcome was never in question, and if that's what Parma will bring to the table against the big sides, they'll keep losing.
Of course, everyone will expect a better outing at home, but Parma has been mostly quiet for a very long time now, no fireworks here as in early 2024/25. The general idea when they host a big side is now to play defensively and not concede. Something they tried against Juventus last week and failed miserably.
Atalanta Team News
Our prediction that Atalanta won't do well against Pisa came true, even if the BTTS-No bet did not as the match in Bergamo ended 1-1. Stats will seemingly tell the story of a dominant home side, but Pisa should have really been 0-2 up at half-time. Only after that did Atalanta start playing and creating. This is a common theme for this side, they tend to first go a goal down and then they man up.
Atalanta should have won the game as they had three or four golden chances to score but only scored from the worst of them. When we put all this together, it was an unreliable performance for Atalanta and we'll likely see more of the same.
The question is: will Ivan Juric's Atalanta always be conservative at first, only to be released from the shackles when they have to chase the score? Yes, most likely.
Do take note that Atalanta was the absolute best visitor in the league last season, with a 13-3-3 record (Inter came closest with 11-5-3), after being a notoriously unreliable favourite the year before.
Probable Lineups
Parma (3-5-2): Suzuki - Balogh, Circati, Valenti - Delprato, Bernabe, Keita, Ordonez, Valeri - Almqvist, Pellegrino. Coach Pecchia.
Atalanta (3-4-2-1): Carnesecchi - Scalvini, Hien, Kossounou - Bellanova, Ederson, De Roon, Zappacosta - De Ketelaere, Sulemana - Scamacca. Coach Juric.
Atalanta will likely use the exact same eleven as last week, while Parma might do a bit of shuffling to get more out of the midfield than against Juventus.
The Betting Market
You can get 2.00 on Atalanta if you believe this team is due a win, or 2.05 with Bet365 enhanced prices. This is certainly a bet that makes a lot of sense. Both Teams To Score: YES is priced at 1.75 while the Over 2.5 Goals carries a tempting price of 1.90.
The Betting Verdict
Even if Parma isn't the same gung-ho team of early last season, and Atalanta isn't the same offensive juggernaut, we're still expecting an open game with goals, but wouldn't bet on it.
Instead, we believe Atalanta players - and, crucially, manager - will have fire in the belly to grab a win here after a disappointing outcome in the first round. Instead of being conservative, they'll break the mould and run out with an intent to score. It won't be an easy win as Atalanta's wins rarely are, but a win is on the cards.
We won't trust Parma until they show us they can be trusted. So far, all we saw from this team is a great goalkeeper. No one else stood out.
