Fulham v Leeds United
Football: English Premier League
Saturday 13th September 2025 - Kick Off 3pm

Fulham

Some late transfer activity may have given Marco Silva something to smile about in the wake of a controversial defeat at Chelsea two weeks ago. The officiating was poor to say the least and prevented Fulham from taking the lead after another unnecessary, and frankly wrong, VAR intervention and it has contributed to a relatively slow start for the West London club.

While Marco Silva is at the helm, Fulham fans will be expecting their team to avoid any relegation trouble even if the manager wanted the board to invest to push towards the European spots available. The side are 18th in the Premier League table at the end of the first month of action and Fulham have picked up 2 points with just a couple of goals scored.

Fulham did beat Bristol City in the League Cup at Craven Cottage, but the Premier League form has been a little disappointing ever since the March international break. In the last 12 Premier League games played since the beginning of April, Fulham have won just 3 and that is a concern for some. Fulham ended last season with 3 straight League losses at home, but did hold Manchester United to a 1-1 draw last month.

Issa Diop is expected to be available for selection and the squad looks strong for this fixture.

Leeds United

The manager has been calling for attacking players to be signed by Leeds United in the transfer window and Daniel Farke admitted his frustration about that lack of activity in the build up to this fixture. There had been reports that Leeds United's board had spoken about removing Farke before the Premier League campaign begun, but they are still behind him and all are hoping to be pulling in the same direction until January at least.

It has been a decent return to the top flight for Leeds United and they may feel the 4 points earned from the opening three League fixtures is above expectations considering who they were facing. Home form will be key for any survival push, but Daniel Farke will want to see a lot more resiliency from his Leeds United team than was offered in the away Premier League game at the Emirates Stadium.

Leeds United beat Everton 1-0 at home on the opening weekend, but they have failed to win any of 3 games in all competitions since then and were dumped out of the League Cup on Penalties by Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday. The side were promoted as second tier Champions and Leeds United were unbeaten in 5 away games in that Division to conclude the campaign, but the 5-0 defeat at Arsenal is a reality check about this new level of football.

Ethan Ampadu and Ao Tanaka are both edging closer to a return and could play some part, while Joel Piroe and Lukas Nmecha are back with knocks that could leave them unavailable.

Head to Head

In the 2022/23 season, Fulham and Leeds United met three times and all were won by The Cottagers.

Two of those wins were at Craven Cottage in the FA Cup and Premier League.

Prediction

This feels like an important game for both Fulham and Leeds United after less than impressive transfer windows and could set the standard for what is to come.

Marco Silva is a very good manager, but he would have wanted to freshen up his squad a little bit.

Fulham have picked up a couple of points, but have needed to come from behind in both matches against Brighton and Manchester United. There was plenty of encouragement to take from the performance at Chelsea two weeks ago, even if the officiating let them down, but the poor overall form has been evident since the March international break and Fulham need a big result.

Before the draw with United, Fulham had lost 3 straight Premier League games at Craven Cottage and there is some pressure on the team.

This weekend may offer them a chance to turn things around with the visit of a Leeds United team that could be without a couple of key attackers and who have perhaps let down Daniel Farke in the transfer window. The manager has made it clear the team need more attacking reinforcements and the fact they have scored a single Penalty in three Premier League games backs that up.

Leeds United did create good chances against Everton in that win, but ultimately they did not convert until the Penalty was awarded. Since then they have lacked something in the final third, albeit against Champions League clubs Arsenal and Newcastle United, and Farke could be under pressure pretty quickly if things don't pick up.

Reports in the summer suggest the board were unconvinced about going into the Premier League season with Daniel Farke at the helm and Leeds United look vulnerable here.

They have defended pretty well at times in the early Premier League games, but the capitulation at Arsenal is a concern and playing in front of the passionate support at Elland Road is a lot different than having to pick up results on their travels.

Fulham should have that Premier League quality edge and they can be backed to win this one if they can reproduce their last couple of efforts.

They were held by 2 of the 3 promoted clubs last season in matches at Craven Cottage, which is always going to raise some doubts, but Fulham should have the firepower to beat what has been a relatively toothless Leeds United attack so far this season.
