Metz have had to endure a tough return to the French top flight so far in this season’s campaign as the ‘yo-yo’ club have yet to register a league win this term and Saturday’s hosts sit bottom of the Ligue 1 table with just two points to their name.

However, there is a glimmer of hope for Metz on home soil at their Stade Saint Symphorien as Stephane Le Mignan’s side have suffered just one defeat in their three home games to date amongst a home record of 0-2-1 1/2 with their only defeat being by a single goal in a 1-0 defeat to Strasbourg on the opening day of the season.
Marseille meanwhile occupy 3rd place in the Ligue 1 table and the visitors will make their way to the Stade Saint Symphorien brimming with confidence after thumping Dutch giants Ajax 4-0 at home in their midweek Champions League tie.
Indeed, that midweek win now makes it three wins on the trot for the visitors who had previously accounted for PSG and Strasbourg in the French domestic top flight and having picked up four wins but just two defeats in their opening six league matches, Roberto De Zerbi’s side look the favourites to claim the three points here.
However, both of Marseille’s two losses so far this season have been away from home with defeats at Rennes and Lyon within an away record of 1-0-2 2/3 so the visitors may not get things all their own way here on Saturday afternoon.
