A Sports Betting Pick by Auls

Wolves v Crystal Palace
Football: English Premier League
Saturday 22nd November 2025 - Kick Off 3pm

Wolves

Most managers in charge of a promotion chasing Championship club would not have been interested in the vacancy at Premier League Wolves, but Rob Edwards could not resist returning to his roots. Departing Middlesbrough for 20th placed Wolves does not look the best career move, but Edwards has taken on what looks an extremely difficult task to turn things around at Molineux.

The new manager was born in Telford, around 15 miles from Wolverhampton, while he played 100 times for Wolves in his career so there was always going to be a significant pull when Rob Edwards was contacted. The team are bottom of the Premier League table and 8 points from safety, but there are 27 games left to play and Edwards will use his experience of managing Luton Town in the top flight to change things quickly. It has to begin at Molineux where Wolves have a 0-1-4 record in the Premier League this season and that has to begin this weekend.

Wolves have not won a Premier League game this season, which meant having to Sack Vitor Pereira, while they have lost 5 in a row in all competitions. The side have not won any of their last 7 home Premier League games going back to the end of last season, while Wolves have suffered 2 losses in a row at Molineux against Burnley in the League and Chelsea in the League Cup.

Emmanuel Agbadou is available after serving a suspension.

Crystal Palace

Oliver Glasner is expected to leave Crystal Palace at the end of the season having improved his reputation no end during his time at Selhurst Park, but he will be keen to leave with another piece of silverware. That has meant picking strong teams both domestically and in Europe, although the test for the manager is keeping everyone fresh through the always very busy festive period.

The extra fixtures of the Conference League has perhaps been a factor in the inconsistent Premier League form with Crystal Palace in 10th place in the table, but just 5 points behind 2nd placed Manchester City in a congested Division. The Eagles have a 2-1-2 away record in the top flight where they have 6 goals and conceded 4.

Crystal Palace are unbeaten in 4 games in all competitions, but the 3 game winning run was ended in the disappointing goalless draw against Brighton last time out. They have lost the last 2 away Premier League games played at Everton and Arsenal, but The Eagles did beat Liverpool at Anfield in the League Cup Fourth Round in the most recent game played on their travels.

Marc Guehi was unable to play for England in the internationals, but there is a hope that he can return for this fixture. Cheick Doucoure, Chadi Riad and Eddie Nketiah are all also hoping to return from injury and join the match day squad.

Head to Head

Crystal Palace earned four points against Wolves last season.

The fixture at Molineux ended 2-2, but Crystal Palace have won on 2 of the last 4 visits to this part of the West Midlands with Wolves earning a sole victory.

Prediction

Most expect a new manager to bring an immediate positive reaction to any group of players, but this is a really tough situation for Rob Edwards.

He found it too much of an emotional tie to ignore the Wolves approach, but his team have been away on international duty and Edwards has to find a way to get them back on track. After eleven games, Wolves are the sole Premier League club without a win in the Division and they are 8 points from safety.

The biggest issue is that Wolves have been beaten by all of the newly Promoted clubs, and the squad has looked short of the quality needed.

And while some will be expecting Rob Edwards to have an immediate impact, the manager was not able to sustain any real success with Luton Town at this level and Ange Postecoglou is a reminder that a new face doesn't always turn things around.

This is a very difficult opening match for Wolves against a Crystal Palace team that have matched up very well with them over the last couple of years.

In those recent matches, Crystal Palace have been the much stronger team in terms of chances created and it is no surprise they have won more often than not. 7 of the last 9 between Crystal Palace and Wolves have been won by The Eagles and Oliver Glasner's men continue to play at a very good standard.

The manager will want to see his team find a bit more consistency in the final third, but Crystal Palace will likely have the better of the chances in this one. With the attacking players available, you have to believe the away team will score at least once and that may be all that is needed to earn a victory against a Wolves team that have continued to struggle to create consistent chances.

Maybe that changes under the new manager, but Crystal Palace should be much more comfortable with what is expected of them than a Wolves team that may have had little time to prepare as hoped.

With a defensive shape that has proven to be tough to break down, Crystal Palace could have just enough quality in the final third to secure three points for the third time in five visits to Molineux.

The Pick :

Wolves 0-2 Crystal Palace
