I still can’t figure out what’s going on with Wolfsburg. At least they were decent in the last couple of seasons, but now they look like total rubbish.
It may sound harsh, but it’s the truth; no way around. What they now must do is beat Union Berlin and Borussia Monchengladbach in their next two games. Failing to do so will see them drop into automatic relegation spots.
They should have won last week away against Eintracht Frankfurt, but again only drew 1-1, blowing their lead. Interestingly, they are the Bundesliga leaders in blowing leads – 5 times so far! In five games where they led, three ended in draws, and they lost twice.
And another shocking fact – Wolfsburg have not won a home game since January of this year, so almost a whole year! 14 home games in a row winless and counting puts a lot of pressure on them.
Union Berlin
Union Berlin is not in good form, having won just once in their last five Bundesliga matches. Last week’s 1-2 home defeat was followed by a 2-3 home loss to Bayern Munich in the DFB Cup last Wednesday.
They won twice and lost three of their five away games this season, which also makes them unreliable on the road.
Still, they have a six-point advantage over Wolfsburg, which makes them slightly more comfortable in this game.
The Betting Verdict
This is a highly important game for Wolfsburg, which they must win. Going winless at home for a whole year is unacceptable!
They do have a good home record against Union Berlin, beating them five times in their last six matches, so perhaps that will also motivate them in this match.
