Dundee are experiencing a turbulent time of things in the Scottish Premiership as the hosts have managed to pick up just one win in their last nine games in the domestic top flight which has left Steven Pressley’s side sitting third from bottom in the table.
Dundee’s singular success in recent months came in the form of a 3-1 home win against St Mirren but otherwise results generally have been pretty poor for the hosts who have drawn once and slipped to no fewer than seven defeats within their last nine league matches.
However, only two of these seven losses have been inflicted upon Dundee at Dens Park and the hosts appear to have a chance of perhaps picking up a point in this Boxing Day clash with Falkirk as The Dee possess a home record that stands at 3-1-4 11/14 so far this season.
Falkirk sit just one league position and one point above their upcoming hosts but they do head into this Boxing Day fixture on the back of an encouraging 1-0 win away from home at Kilmarnock last time out in the Premiership.
The visitors have been a tough side to beat in recent times under manager John McGlynn as The Bairns have been dealt just two defeats in their last eight league matches in the Premiership which came in losses at the hands of Hibernian and Hearts.
Three wins during this period along with points gained in three stalemates have ensured Falkirk’s safety for the time being as the visitors possess a comfortable looking five-point buffer between themselves and second from bottom outfit, Kilmarnock.
An away record of 4-1-4 8/14 though gives Dundee a fighting chance here.
The Betting Verdict
Dundee have won both of their last two meetings against Falkirk and they stand a chance of picking up a result of some sort in this one as well.
