West Brom were dealt another defeat in the Championship on Boxing Day when The Baggies suffered a 2-1 loss at home to Bristol City which also became the west midlands club’s fourth defeat in five games.
Previous losses at the hands of QPR, Southampton, Hull City and Bristol City have resulted in West Brom sliding down the Championship table where they currently occupy a disappointing 16th place in the second tier standings.
However, it’s worth noting that three out of these four recent losses were incurred away from home while at The Hawthorns, West Brom possess a more stable looking record of 5-4-2 14/10 so far this season, along with losing just once in their last eight home games as well.
QPR have strung together some encouraging results lately in the Championship as Julien Stéphan’s side have slipped to just two defeats in their last nine matches overall in the domestic second tier.
A 1-1 draw away from home at Portsmouth on Boxing Day may have been seen as two points dropped for The R’s but nevertheless, the London club now sit in the top half of the Championship table in 9th place and just a point adrift of the play-off pack.
The visitors have failed to win any of their last three outings on the road though and having suffered losses on their travels at Norwich City 3-1 and Middlesbrough 3-1 respectively as well as the Boxing Day stalemate at Fratton Park, The R’s may struggle on the road again on Monday night.
An away record of 4-3-5 13/20 does not look entirely convincing either.
