Peterborough United have climbed steadily up the League One table under manager Luke Williams thanks to stringing together four league wins on the trot and The Posh will now turn their attentions to Reading in Monday night’s encounter at London Road.
Having suffered four defeats on the trot beforehand which consisted of losses in League One to Stevenage and Doncaster Rovers along with cup defeats at the hands of Swindon Town (EFL Trophy) and Barnsley (FA Cup), Peterborough have bounced back in impressive fashion.
Indeed, recent league wins against the likes of Reading, Northampton Town, Port Vale and Leyton Orient respectively will give the upcoming hosts plenty of confidence for Monday night’s clash, along with keeping clean sheets in their last two games.
Reading occupy 11th place in the League One table but level on points with their 13th placed hosts ahead of Monday night’s tussle and they too will make their way to London Road on the back of a couple of recent morale-boosting wins in the third tier.
The bigger picture shows Reading have slipped to just two defeats in their last seven matches overall which came in the form of losses to Peterborough United and high-flying Bradford City while previous wins at the expense of Stevenage and Blackpool have helped lift The Royals up into a top half position in the table.
However, an overall away record of 2-4-4 15/15 so far in this season’s League One campaign suggests Leam Richardson’s side look far from being a consistently performing outfit on the road this term.
