Southampton’s winless run in the Championship extended to four games on Monday night in the west midlands as The Saints were held to a 1-1 draw away from home at Birmingham City which was somewhat fortuitous for the visitors.
Points picked up in stalemates with Coventry City and Birmingham City have been overshadowed by losses incurred at the hands of Championship strugglers Norwich City and Oxford United respectively.
That result at St Andrews now makes it just two wins in the last eight league matches for the south coast hosts and of the previous seven matches in the Championship, each one has resulted in both teams hitting the back of the net.
At St Marys Stadium, Southampton have scored in eight of their 11 home games so far.
Millwall returned to winning ways in the Championship on Monday night as The Lions registered a welcome 2-1 home win against Bristol City which in turn has helped luft the London club into 5th place in the table.
Manager Alex Neil has worked wonders at Millwall so far this season as the visitors have been handed just two defeats in their last eight matches overall in the domestic second tier which came in the shape of losses to Hull City and Blackburn Rovers, while also picking up four wins in the process.
Home and away wins against Bristol City were preceded by victories gained at the expense of Sheffield Wednesday and Southampton, the latter resulting in a 3-2 win for the Lions.
Millwall also look likely to score at least once here as nine of their 11 outings on the road have resulted in both teams scoring.
The Betting Verdict
Each of the last two meetings have seen both teams notch.
