Hibernian will be seeking a fourth consecutive win in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday afternoon when they play host to high-flying Motherwell at Easter Road in what is a vitally important fixture for both sides.
5th placed Hibernian are just two points behind their upcoming visitors but David Gray’s side know all three points here would send the Edinburgh side above their opponents as the top six clubs jostle for possible places in Europe.
Hibs have recently accounted for the likes of Hearts, Aberdeen and Kilmarnock respectively along with a point gained in a previous draw with Dundee United, so Saturday’s hosts will be eager to extend their unbeaten run this weekend.
Hibernian possess a reasonable looking home record at Easter Road of 5-3-2 21/11 but they did slip to a 2-0 defeat away at Motherwell in their last meeting.
Motherwell are currently enjoying something of a renaissance under manager Jens Askou as the visitors have also produced a solid sequence of results in the Scottish Premiership, losing just once in their last 13 league matches overall.
That rare defeat came in the shape of a 1-0 loss away from home at a rejuvenated Rangers outfit but nevertheless, The Well have collected no fewer than eight wins along with picking up useful points in four draws as well.
Results away from home have been more stubborn than comprehensive though as Motherwell have been involved in a number of draws on their travels so far this season which is reflected in their away record which stands at 2-6-2 12/11.
