Galatasaray bounced back from their previous 2-0 loss to Fenerbahce in the Turkish Super Cup in midweek when the upcoming hosts returned to winning ways in the domestic Turkiye Kupasi with a 2-1 win away from home at Fethiyespor.
Saturday evening’s hosts now return to the bread and butter of the Turkish Super Lig when they entertain mid-table outfit Gaziantep and having picked up five wins within their last six matches in all competitions, Okan Buruk’s side will be in confident mood that they can pick up another three points here.
Recent wins in the Super Lig against Antalyaspor 4-1 away from home and a 3-0 home win against Kasimpasa underline Galatasaray’s threat in front of goal while a dominant home record of 7-2-0 22/8 suggests the hosts stand a great chance of taking the spoils.
Gaziantep sit in 9th place in the Turkish Super Lig ladder and the visitors also have a renewed belief about them and a reason to also feel confident about their chances of gaining a result of some sort at the Rams Park Stadyumu on Saturday evening.
Despite previously slumping to three defeats on the trot with losses in the Super Lig to Goztepe and Basaksehir, the latter being a particularly heavy 5-1 loss on their travels, the visitors have since put together a three-match unbeaten run, albeit two of these games were club friendlies.
A 1-1 draw with Romanian club Petrolul Ploiesti and a 2-1 win at Arges Pitesti were followed by a 1-0 home win in the domestic cup competition over Kocaelispor, so manager Burak Yilmaz will be urging his players to continue this run when they come up against Galatasaray.
