Elche head into Monday night’s La Liga clash at home to Valencia on the back of three games without a win having slipped to losses at the hands of Villarreal 3-1 at home and last week’s 2-1 loss away from home at Real Betis 2-1 respectively.
In between the two defeats, Elche managed to gain a point in a 1-1 draw on the road at Valencia and although the hosts registered La Liga wins against the likes of Girona and Rayo Vallecano, these have been Elche’s only highlights within their last 12 matches in the domestic top flight.
In addition, Eder Sarabia Armesto’s side have been handed six defeats in the process along with being involved in four draws as well, so the prospects of a straight win here for the hosts on Monday night seems unlikely.
Sevilla will be desperate to avoid a fifth defeat on the trot in all competitions when they make their way to the Estadio Martínez Valero for Monday night’s encounter with Elche which has left the visitors sitting in 16th place and just three points above the relegation zone.
A disappointing 1-0 defeat away from home at Alaves in the Copa del Rey was followed by three defeats on the trot in the Spanish top flight to Real Madrid, Levante and Celta Vigo, the latter two both being on home soil at their Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán.
An away record of 3-1-5 10/14 doesn’t look great but it does give Sevilla a fighting chance of perhaps grinding out a possible point on Monday night.
