Barnsley were handed a comprehensive 4-0 battering away from home at the League One leaders Cardiff City in midweek and The Tykes will now return to Oakwell for Saturday afternoon’s encounter against Stevenage no doubt looking to bounce back with a win.
However, this could be easier said than done, especially as Barnsley have found wins hard to come by in recent times, picking up just one victory in their last eight matches in all competitions.
That solitary success came in the form of a 2-1 home win against bottom half outfit Blackpool but also includes being handed five defeats in the process, two of which were on home soil in League One amidst an overall home record of 6-1-4 22/17 so far this season.
Stevenage meanwhile extended their unbeaten run in League One to three games with a 1-0 midweek home win against Peterborough United which followed useful points picked up in draws with the likes of Bolton Wanderers and Mansfield Town.
The visitors have also found wins tough to come by in recent weeks though as Alex Revell’s side have managed to capture just one win from their last nine games overall in the domestic third tier along with being involved in five stalemates as well as three defeats.
All three losses were on the road at Cardiff City, Luton Town and Exeter City respectively but it should be noted that all three defeats were against teams sitting in the top half of the League One table, while an away record of 5-3-6 15/17 gives the visitors a chance of claiming a point here.
