Hours after the FA Cup Final defeat to Manchester City, Chelsea announced that Xabi Alonso will be the next manager of the club and that may offer some excitement for the fans after a miserable season. Some may feel that being out of European Football would be a blessing in disguise for the new manager and the squad, but Chelsea is also a business and any European Football brings some revenue into the club.

A win on Tuesday at the home of one of their big rivals would secure top flight status, but the big advantage in the goal difference column over West Ham United means Tottenham Hotspur effectively need a point from the last two games. Sunday could become a pressure filled fixture if Tottenham Hotspur are not able to earn that point in this game as they try and round out the away schedule where Spurs have produced a 7-5-6 record in this Division.

There is still a vulnerability about this injury hit Tottenham Hotspur squad and that was evident as they held on for a 1-1 draw with Leeds United. By the end of that fixture, the away side looked much more likely to earn the three points and Spurs cannot expect any favours from a long-time rival.
Not expecting favours means Chelsea putting in a strong effort, but the squad have lacked confidence in the last couple of months.
Much like the visitors, Chelsea have a vulnerability about them and this is a team that has struggled to pick themselves up when they have fallen behind. The players will want to show the watching incoming manager what they are about and Chelsea can still earn a spot in Europe for next season, which opens up financial routes to improve the squad.
Like it was stated in the Newcastle United vs West Ham United preview, it does feel like the home team are a bigger price than they would have been if the away team wasn't in 'need' of the points.
The Magpies made light of that factor and Chelsea may have just enough to do the same against a Tottenham Hotspur team that may still end up having work to do on the final day of the campaign.
