Rayo Vallecano finished agonisingly close to securing a European spot for next season as Inigo Perez’s side finished in 8th place in their respective La Liga table and just one point behind 7th placed Getafe who claimed the last qualifying spot for the Europa Conference League.
It’s therefore win-or-bust for Rayo Vallecano in this upcoming European final at the Red Bull Arena on Wednesday night if they’re to extend their European adventures into next term, but the Spanish outfit bring an impressive nine-game unbeaten sequence in all competitions into this final.
On the European front, Rayo Vallecano finished the group phase in 5th place having collected four wins within their six group ties which set up a round of 16 clash with Samsunspor with Vallecano running out 3-2 winners on aggregate.
Subsequent wins against AEK 4-3 in the quarter-finals and a 2-0 win on aggregate over Strasbourg in the semi-finals ensured a place in this season’s Europa Conference League final for Perez’s side.

Crystal Palace and Rayo Vallecano have never met before in any competition but with slightly more depth in their squad, it looks like Crystal Palace are the more likely to take European silverware on Wednesday night to achieve a fitting end to Oliver Glasner’s tenure at the London club.
