Canada
Canada left Toronto frustrated after being held to a 1-1 draw by Bosnia-Herzegovina despite entering the tournament with high expectations.
Jesse Marsch's side created enough chances to win the match, but once again failed to convert their superiority into three points. The result leaves the Canadians under pressure, as anything less than a win here could leave qualification hanging in the balance heading into the final round against Switzerland.
The good news is that Canada returns to familiar surroundings in Vancouver, where they have traditionally enjoyed strong support and positive results.
Jonathan David remains the main goal threat, while Alphonso Davies gives the hosts a level of pace and quality that Qatar will struggle to match if Canada can move the ball quickly.
Qatar
Qatar produced one of the surprises of the opening round by earning a 1-1 draw against group favorites Switzerland.
Akram Afif was once again at the center of everything good going forward, while the defense remained compact and disciplined throughout a match in which they spent long periods without possession.
That result means Qatar arrives with confidence and knowing that another positive outcome would put them in a strong position to reach the knockout stage.
Qatar are unlikely to change their approach here, preferring to stay organized, concede territory, and look for opportunities on the break through Afif and Almoez Ali.
The Betting Verdict
This feels like a bigger game for Canada than Qatar. The hosts need a win after dropping points against Bosnia, while Qatar can afford to be patient after their excellent result against Switzerland.
Canada should see more of the ball and create more chances. Qatar defended brilliantly against the Swiss, but asking them to repeat that performance twice in a row may be a stretch. Home advantage could make the difference.
Canada to win and under 3.5 goals is my bet here.
