Germany could hardly have made a stronger start to the tournament, dismantling Curacao 7-1 in Houston.
Jamal Musiala, Florian Wirtz and Kai Havertz were all heavily involved as Julian Nagelsmann's side reminded everyone why they remain among the leading contenders for the trophy. The victory also gave Germany a significant goal difference advantage in what could become a competitive group.
This is a much sterner test. Germany will face an opponent capable of matching their athleticism and making life uncomfortable on the counter-attack.
Even so, the Germans have won seven of their last eight matches and continue to look far more balanced than the sides that disappointed at the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.

Ivory Coast arrive with plenty of confidence after edging Ecuador 1-0 in arguably the most important fixture in the group.
That victory leaves the Elephants in an excellent position to challenge for a place in the knockout rounds, and another positive result here would put them firmly in control of their own destiny.
The Ivorians showed exactly what makes them dangerous against Ecuador. They defended aggressively, remained compact without the ball, and were clinical when opportunities arrived.
Players such as Simon Adingra, Amad Diallo, and Franck Kessié give them enough quality to trouble any defense if Germany becomes too adventurous.
The Betting Verdict
Germany deserves to be the favorite, but this should be far more competitive than their opener against Curacao.
Ivory Coast have already beaten a strong Ecuador side and possess the pace to cause problems in transition.
The Germans should still have too much quality over 90 minutes, but I wouldn't expect another goal fest. Ivory Coast are organized and unlikely to leave many spaces.
I see this ending something like 2-1 and would go with a combo bet of Germany to win & under 4.5 goals.
