Switzerland recovered brilliantly from their frustrating 1-1 draw with Qatar by dismantling Bosnia-Herzegovina 4-1 in Los Angeles.
Even though the goals came very late in the game, Murat Yakin's side finally looked like the team many expected to see before the tournament, creating chances freely and showing far more attacking intent than in their opener. Young midfielder Johan Manzambi was one of the standout performers as the Swiss moved into a strong position heading into the final round.
The equation is now simple. Switzerland needs a win to finish top of Group B, while a draw would be enough to reach the knockout stage.
With Granit Xhaka controlling midfield and Manuel Akanji leading the defense, the Swiss remain one of the most balanced teams in the group.
Canada
Canada have enjoyed an impressive tournament so far. After opening with a 1-1 draw against Bosnia-Herzegovina, Jesse Marsch's side responded by thrashing Qatar 6-0 in Vancouver.
Jonathan David led the way in attack, while the hosts showed the pace and directness that make them such a dangerous team in transition. They gladly accept the underdog tag against the Swiss, which I think will make them even more dangerous.
The only concern is fitness. Midfielder Ismaël Koné has been ruled out after suffering a fractured leg against Qatar, while Alphonso Davies has been working his way back from injury.
Even so, Canada knows that a draw would be enough to secure first place thanks to their superior scoring.
The Betting Verdict
To me, this feels more like a knockout match than a group game. Both teams are already in a strong position, but neither will want to settle for second place.
Canada have momentum and home support. Switzerland have more tournament experience and looked excellent against Bosnia-Herzegovina. I can see chances at both ends, especially if the game opens up in the second half.
We might see both teams scoring, but I would side with the more experienced, dangerous Swiss side to win this game at valuable odds.
