Ecuador find themselves under pressure after collecting just one point from their opening two matches. A narrow 1-0 defeat to Ivory Coast was followed by a frustrating 0-0 draw against Curacao, leaving Sebastián Beccacece's side needing a result against Germany to keep their knockout hopes alive.
The concern is at the attacking end. Ecuador have yet to score in the tournament despite enjoying plenty of possession across both matches. The defensive unit led by Willian Pacho and Piero Hincapié has largely done its job, but the lack of cutting edge is a serious problem.
Germany
Germany have already secured top spot in Group E after victories over Curacao and Ivory Coast.
Julian Nagelsmann's side have scored nine goals in two matches and looked one of the most convincing teams in the tournament so far. Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz have been at the heart of most of their best attacking moves.
With first place already guaranteed, Germany may rotate some players ahead of the knockout stage. Even so, the depth of the squad is remarkable, and there is little drop-off between the starters and those pushing for minutes.
The Betting Verdict
This is a difficult game to price because the two teams have very different objectives. Ecuador needs points. Germany doesn't.
That could lead to a more open match than many expect. Ecuador has to attack at some stage, while Germany remains dangerous regardless of who starts.
The Germans are deserved favorites, but rotation makes the handicap markets less attractive.
Germany should win, but my main bet here is both teams to score.
