Union Berlin made a lively Bundesliga start against Eintracht Frankfurt, coming back from 1-3 down to draw 3-3 on opening day, but the second round was a completely different story. They were hammered 4-0 by Bayer Leverkusen, conceding inside the opening minute and struggling to create much going forward.
The return home should help the Berliners, especially after Union Berlin scored three times against Eintracht Frankfurt at the Alten Försterei.

Schalke 04
Schalke 04 have had a difficult return to the Bundesliga, losing 3-0 at Augsburg before producing one of the better defensive displays of the second round against Bayern Munich. Veteran goalkeeper Loris Karius was outstanding as the Royal Blues held the champions to a 0-0 draw.
That draw certainly surprised me, as I didn’t expect such a compact defensive display by Schalke 04, who almost always conceded 5+ goals against Bayern Munich over the years.
Not only that, but Schalke 04 also showed they can threaten on the break against Bayern Munich, with Moussa Sylla causing problems in behind.
Ron Schallenberg is suspended again for the match, but Kenan Karaman returned to the squad against the Bavarians and made his first appearance of the season late on.
The Betting Verdict
This looks like a tricky and tight game to me. Union Berlin plays more comfortably at home, but were badly exposed last weekend in Leverkusen, so we'll see how they respond.
On the other side, Schalke 04 should arrive with plenty of confidence after keeping Bayern Munich out.
