Viking are not going into this game short of confidence. They sit top of the Norwegian league and have been excellent at home, losing only once in their arena in their last 10 matches. Now they arrive after dropping points in a 2-2 away draw with Augsburg last weekend. Manuel Neuer made costly errors in that game, and Bayern Munich had to fight back twice to rescue a point. It was a reminder that they are not completely reliable at the back, even when they dominate possession.
Their European start was far more convincing. Bayern Munich beat Bodo/Glimt 5-0 and have already shown how much damage their attack can do. They also have a strong record against Norwegian opposition, remaining unbeaten in nine European meetings with Norwegian teams.
The Betting Verdict
I can see Viking getting on the scoresheet, but I still expect Bayern Munich to win. The Norwegians have been dangerous at home, while Bayern Munich have conceded in three of their last four away games across competitions.
The straight Bayern Munich win is too short for me, as always. I prefer chasing goals in their games or handicap bets.
This time, I am counting on goals in both nets and on the match ending with over 2.5 goals. That pays around 1.85, which is a solid price.
