Two home games, two goalless draws. Schalke 04 have defended well at the Veltins Arena, holding both Bayern Munich and SV Elversberg to 0-0. The problem is at the other end. Schalke 04 have scored just four Bundesliga goals in five games.
Now they face one of the Bundesliga’s most productive attacks without Moussa Sylla, who picked up a leg injury in last week's 2-1 defeat to SC Freiburg. Dejan Ljubicic and Lasme are also doubts, while Johannes Siebeking remains out. That leaves coach Miron Muslic with fewer options as he looks for a first home goal.
Mainz
Mainz have been a different team away from home. They beat Hamburger SV 0-5 and Borussia Mönchengladbach 3-4, scoring nine goals across those two trips. Their last match was a wild 4-3 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen, so goals haven't been a problem, but keeping them out has.
Coach Urs Fischer will want a tighter performance at the back, especially against a side that may sit deep and look to frustrate them.
Mainz will be without Dominik Kohr, Silas and Otto Ruoppi, while Robin Zentner and Silvan Widmer are doubts. Anthony Caci is available after scoring twice against Bayer Leverkusen.

I am more towards Mainz here, given their away form and far better scoring record.
Schalke 04 have been solid at home, but Moussa Sylla's absence makes their attack even less potent.
I prefer Mainz to win at valuable odds, but check the price before backing them. Their defensive record is not great, yet Schalke 04 need to show far more going forward.
