2010-05-02 - Sunderland F.C vs Manchester United
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Analysis:Manchester United will attempt to do what no club has ever done before and that is to win the Premiership title despite having lost seven games in a season. And The Red Devils will need help from Liverpool if they are to go back top as a draw or a defeat for Chelsea and a win for United can see them go back top with just one game to go.
United will know what they have to do as Chelsea's match with Liverpool ends 45 minutes earlier than their match with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
There is the talk that Liverpool may not want United to get the 19th title and go one better than them but Ferguson is hoping that Liverpool's faint hopes of finishing fourth are motivation enough to take points off the leaders in the match of the week for Super Sunday.
But United must do their part and beat Sunderland who have already taken out the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham at home this season. And in Steve Bruce, a former Manchester United player their form has been impressive as they have won nine of their 18 games at the Stadium of Light losing just twice to Chelsea and Aston Villa in the process.
The last time Sunderland beat Manchester United was March 1997 and with recent wins coming late in the match against Manchester City and Tottenham, the Red Devils will be eager to extend their unbeaten run over Sunderland to 13 matches in all competitions.
As for the team news, Sunderland could hand midfielder Lee Cattermole a return to the first team after recovering from a calf injury. Defender George McCartney is another who could also be in contention after almost two months out with a hamstring injury but John Mensah (knee) and Andy Reid (hamstring) is out for the rest of the season.
On-loan Tottenham defender Alan Hutton will miss out through suspension after being sent off in the 1-0 win over Hull City.
Meanwhile, United could be boosted by the return of injured duo Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand for this clash. After returning to training last Friday, Rooney could now start this match for United.
Defender Gary Nevillerated doubtful with calf trouble but will definitely be fit to face Stoke at Old Trafford on the last day of the season. United are already missing the likes of Danny Welbeck (knee), Michael Owen (striker) and Anderson (knee) until the end of the season.
Take Manchester United and give the 1 1/4 ball here.
