Bolton Wanderers
After being hammered by opponents in their last three games, Bolton should find it difficult to pick themselves up and kick start their season again.
Gary Megson will be without Davis and O’Brien who are both out injured while Riga, Mccann, Elmander and Shittu are all doubtful ahead of the clash. However Megson will welcome back club Captain Kevin Davies following a one match suspension.
Megson believes that his side is hitting a string of bad luck which resulted in defeats BUT it was not too long ago when he step up and said none of his players in the team apart from Jaaskainen deserve every penny. A contradicting statement and i believe this would demoralize the Bolton side.
Manchester City
Manchester City has been boosted by the return of Craig Bellamy and Stephen Ireland to the squad after missing out against Chelsea last weekend. However, i do not expect to see any chances in the starting line up by Mark Hughes as his side was simply fantastic against Chelsea.
The return of Robinho in the last two games for City has given City more option down the flanks. With Shaun Wright Phillips one the right and Robinho on the left, both these players are lightning quick and will hurt opponents on the break.
Mark Hughes will be without Michael Johnson who is reported that he will miss the entire season. Apart from Johnson, Hughes will also be without Bridge while Richards, Bellamy and Ireland should be fit enough to feature but are likely to take their seats on the bench.
Asian Handicap Analysis :
Under the asian handicap line this season, Bolton have lost four of their seven home games. The lost bets came against Sunderland, Stoke, Chelsea and Blackburn. The three payouts came against Liverpool, Spurs and Everton.
On the other hand, Man City have lost two from a possible seven games on the road under the asianhandicap line. Both losses came against Wigan and Birmingham during the lengthy spell where City was finding difficulty in winning games.
No doubt City might have only won two games on the road under the asian handicap line but City seem to have sparked some form after defeating Arsenal (youth team) and Chelsea at home in their last two games.
The Betting Verdict :
Two weeks ago, Mark Hughes was receiving massive amount of pressure as City failed to win their last 7 games. However within 10 days, things have changed dramatically when City knocked Arsenal out of the League Cup while securing a massive win against Chelsea to kick start their season again.
With confidence high at the City camp, it should not be a problem for them to secure a win against struggling Bolton. Gary Megson have step out in the media criticising his players and this would not have help things.
The last time a manager did that (Phil Brown last season with Hull), the team when downhill all the way and was nearly relegated. I don’t think Bolton can be that lucky to avoid the drop if things don’t change drastically in the January transfer window.
With Bolton having a weak defense and always pushing men up for set plays, I won’t be surprised to see Manchester City hitting them on a counter attack.
