Preview
The Chicago White Sox (7-6) have enjoyed plenty of success when travelling to the North West of the United States to take on the Seattle Mariners (7-6) and yesterday was no different as they took Game 1 of a 3 game series.
The White Sox will be pleased to see Adam Dunn getting his batting average up, and he was the catalyst in a 7-3 win last night by hitting not one, but two Home Runs. Dunn may need to be at his best along with the rest of the batting line up if they are to win the series tonight, especially if Philip Humber struggles as he did in his last start.
Humber did not factor into the decision in a 10-4 loss to the Baltimore Orioles, but he did find himself in a number of tough situations despite only allowing 1 run and issuing 3 walks in just over 5 innings pitched.
The pitcher will believe he can get his command back as he looks to build on two stellar performances against the Seattle Mariners last season. Humber was 1-0 in those two starts and gave up just 3 runs in just under 15 innings pitched.
Humber may need to be at his best as Seattle send Blake Beavan to the mound after a strong performance. Beavan is now 1-1 on the season with a 2.70 ERA after allowing just 3 runs in 7 innings as Seattle beat the Oakland Athletics 5-3.
Beavan may need to do something similar if the Seattle bats are having as hard a time as they have against the White Sox in recent games.
Head to Head
Chicago have won 17 of the last 20 meetings between the teams since the 2010 season, outscoring Seattle 106-48 in those games.
They have won their last 6 visits to Seattle, holding the Mariners to 10 total runs in that winning streak.
Prediction
I am going to go for a slightly more risky run line pick on the Chicago White Sox in this game and hope they can continue their hot form at Seattle.
They have dominated the recent series and it was more of the same last night.
I also believe they have the edge in the pitching department, despite Philip Humber's lack of command in his last start, and the Chicago bats have been in good enough form recently to think the 2.60 is a little big.
The Pick :
FIXED ODDS BETTING TIP :
I'll back the Chicago White Sox - 1.5 Runs @ 2.60
