Pep Guardiola has been quoted in the press as angrily saying that this is a must win game for the Catalans as they wish to end a five game winless streak. The Catalans had a healthy lead of 12 points on the top of the La Liga but the lead has been reduced to four points.

The 4-3-3 formation has seemed to work perfectly for Pep Guardiola until recently when Barcelona failed to capitalize on opportunities that come their way.

Now Barcelona’s defense is leaking goals for fun. Four conceded against Atletico Madrid was totally unacceptable for a club like Barcelona and I do expect to see some improvement in that department.

Barcelona will go into this game without a couple of defenders. Gabi Milito and and Eric Abidal are both injured while Dani Alves and Marin Caceres will both miss the games due to suspension.

Carlos Puyol will parter Pique at the heart of the defense accompanied by Sylvinho and Rafeal Marquez. In midfield, Xavi, Sergio Busquets and Keita or Toure will make up the three man midfield, leaving Eto, Messi and Henry up front.

The main threat of Bilbao will be posses by Fernando Llorente and Pep Guardiola has already highlighted this. Therefore there would be no excuse for Puyol and co. not to be aware of the damage that he could cause.

Key players to watch out for in this game would definitely be the creativity of Messi as all eyes will be on him to make a comeback for Barcelona, while Eto’s sublime finishing this season has made him a player to watch be selected for if you’re backing on goalscorers.
