Dundalk's form has been excellent in recent months as they come into the last 16 of Ireland's premier cup competition.

In the last 9 league games Dundalk have won 6 games, losing only 2. They have moved up to fifth in the table after a very poor start to the season.

Dundalk had been one of the favourites for relegation in their first season back up in the Premier Division but their recent run has seen them move well clear of the bottom sides and are looking comfortable for a mid-table finish.

On Tuesday night they played out their first home draw of the season with a 0-0 scorline against bottom side Bray. A poor result considering their recent form but it does not tell the whole story.

Dundalk missed a penalty, hit the woodwork twice and had 2 goals disallowed. However on Saturday after being 3-1 down at Sligo, they made an amazing late comeback to win 4-3 showing the character and fight this side has put up lately.

Although Dundalk are facing league leaders and last years double winners Bohemians, they will feel confident that they can get some sort of result. They have lost to Bohs 3 times this season already and are sure to be out for revenge.

BOHEMIANS ( Away Rec : W7 D2 L3)

Bohs travel to Dundalk hoping to keep their excellent form going and hoping to remain in the FAI Cup which they won last year in their double winning season.

Bohemians are looking good to retain their League Championship while many would feel they are well capable of doing the double again. They have beaten Dundalk twice here this season in the league by 1-0 and 2-0 scorelines and hammered them 5-0 at home.

However Boh's certainly didnt have it their own way in the 2 away victories. It took a very late Joseph Ndo winner on the first day of the season to win and a few weeks ago a Dundalk sending off made life a bit easier for the Champions in what was a very hard fought game, which they eventually won 2-0.

Bohs are on a terrific run, since their last defeat at St Patricks in June, they have won 6 and drawn only twice and conceded only 2 goals. They won 2-0 at St Patricks on Tuesday night but reports from this game suggest that they were fortunate to do so.

They did suffer one disappointment being knocked out of the Champions league to a late goals against Red Bull Salzburg. This being a cup game Boss Pat Fenlon just may make some changes and rest some of his key players for important league games coming up in the next few weeks.

THE BETTING VERDICT

I do think that Dundalk can cause a small upset in this game and get a result of some sort. They are scoring goals much more frequently of late and I think they will be more up for a Cup run than Bohs.

While Bohs defence has been rock solid, they are not scoring goals as regular as the early part of the season, and a low scoring draw is very possible.
