2009-11-14 - Brazil vs England
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Analysis:Fabio Cappello will use this match as a test to see how his side comes up against the World Best when the Three Lions travels to Doha to face Brazil. Cappello will expect nothing more than his players giving their best even though it is just a friendly match here.
However, Cappello has a number of players injured ahead of this clash. Midfielder Gareth Barry and Wayne Rooney are amongst those injured. Frank Lampard was the latest casualty on Thursday as he picked up a thigh injury that could keep him out for two to three weeks on the sidelines. Then captain John Terry picked up an ankle injury that also makes him doubtful.
Then in midfield England are missing the likes of Steven Gerrard, Aaron Lennon, Theo Walcott through injury, while David Beckham's is out as he is represting his club in America. That means that Michael Carrick will get a chance to redeem himself after his poor showing against the Ukraine.
Tom Huddlestone a surprise called up is likely to feature at some stage while Spurs team-mate Jermaine Jenas is also hoping to start. Upfront we are likely to see Peter Crouch start alongside Wayne Rooney. Darren Bent and Jermain Defoe are hoping to come off the bench to feature at some stage.
Matthew Upson could be given a chance to partner John Terry if he is fit to feature as Rio Ferdinand is out. Wayne Bridge or Stephen Warnock will start at left-back to deputise for the injured Ashley Cole. Wes Brown will start at right back as Glen Johnson is out and Luke Young turned down the chance to resurrect his international career earlier this week.
Brazil are coming into this match having cruised into the World Cup Qualification with ease. Dunga's Brazil initially drew some criticism but there is now a sense they have achieved a nice fit between attack and defence.
Lucas Leiva is the new face in the Brazil side, but there will be no place for Liverpool team-mate Fabio Aurelio, who has pulled out with a muscle injury. Manchester City's Robinho could play some part here even though City have stated he should not.
All of Dunga's squad are based in Europe, with the likes of Kaka, Daniel Alves and Luis Fabiano all likely to cause England's defence problems. Porto striker Hulk could make his debut after receiving his first international call-up but there is there is no place for AC Milan pair Ronaldinho and Alexandre Pato in the side.
