Analysis:

Liverpool, fresh from their 2-0 Merseyside derby over Everton will travel to Ewood Park aiming for a second consecutive win in what has been a miserable season to date. They will once again have to start without star striker Fernando Torres as he will not be risked due to his groin injury.

As it stands now Liverpool are fifth in the standings and some 13 points away from Leaders Chelsea. This match becomes extra special when you consider that in midweek, Chelsea were dumped out of the Carling by Blackburn in a thrilling game, so Liverpool cannot take the hosts too lightly here.

Manager Sam Allardyce is back in the side after missing their last four games with a heart surgery. Assistant Neil McDonald in that period has seen the side managed two wins, a draw and a defeat. And they will be full of confidence after seeing out Chelsea on penalties in midweek in the Carling Cup. But after 120 minutes of football, some players are bound to feel tired after that.

As for the team news, Torres is out with a groin injury, Dutch attacker Ryan Babel is also out after picking up an ankle injurybut Italian midfielder Alberto Aquilani is fit again and will start from the bench. At the back the centre half position is being fought by Jamie Carragher, Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel. Captain Steven Gerrard will be eager to prove his worth for what will be his 500the game for the club.

As for the hosts Blackburn, they are currently in 13th spot with 17 points. Midfielder David Dunn is in a race to become fit after picking up a calf knock picked up against Stoke.
