Analysis:Liverpool who have only pride to play as they can only play in the Europa League no matter what happens in the other matches will aim to finish on a high when they entertain Fiorentina at Anfield tonight.
As they had home and away defeats to Lyon, should they win here and Lyon loses, due to the head to head record, they will still not qualify to the next stage. Fiorentina also beat them in Italy so, this match is just to salvage whatever price they can now.
Fiorentina who are the current leaders, knows that a point is good enough to secure top spot in Group E, provided Lyon do not defeat Debrecen by four clear goals in France in the evening's other game.
Liverpool fans will hope that the team will play for pride and bow out in style from the Champions League with a win here. Summer signing Alberto Aquilani is expected to be handed his first start following his big-money summer switch from Roma, while Fernando Torres should make his return after a groin injury.
Ryan Babel misses out with an ankle injury and fellow wideman Albert Riera is doubtful with injury problem. Holland international Dirk Kuyt and goalkeeper Jose Reina are expected to be rested by Benitez as he looks ahead to Sunday's Premier League clash with Arsenal at Anfield.
Even skipper Steven Gerrard has admitted that they cannot win the Premiership this season as they now aim to finish in the top four to qualify for the Champions League next season once again.
The visitors Fiorentina are suffering from a major injury crisis ahead of the match and will be happy his side have already secured their place in the last 16 of the tournament.
The likes of Adrian Mutu and Cristiano Zanetti are sidelined with knee injuries, while Massimo Gobbi, Marco Marchionni and Alessandro Gamberini all are suffering from thigh injuries.
They are also missing Dario Danielli through suspension while Stefan Jovetic and Juan Vargas will have to undergo late fitness tests on their ankle and thigh injuries to see if they can be fit enough to feature.
Liverpool have never suffered back to back defeats in Europe where their home form is concerned as their last match at home saw them get beaten by Lyon 2-1.
Take Liverpool and give the 1/2 ball here.
Cheers and good luck,
