It was a great midweek for Rangers as they went 10 points clear in the SPL as they won 2-0 at St Mirren and rivals Celtic lost 2-1 against Hibs. They will certainly be heavily favoured to win this one comfortably too while Celtic face a tricky tie at a Hamilton side who have given Rangers a few tough games lately. Celtic do have a game in hand but Rangers have the points on the board and will be hard for them to make up the ground.
Rangers have an excellent home record this season with 8 wins and 3 draws and no defeats and conceding just 8 times. Although last Saturday that nearly ended as Hearts led 1-0 with 10 men but Rangers got an injury time equaliser to salvage a point. Of the 8 home wins Rangers have won 6 of them by 2 or more goals and playing against the bottom side that again is a real possibility.
Rangers have also been boosted this week by the return of players like Kenny Miller, Nacho Novo and Pedro Mendes. Meanwhile Kris Boyd is still recovering from a hernia operation and Maurie Edu also remains out.
Falkirk drew 0-0 midweek with Motherwell who had a man sent off at the end of the first half. However the Bairns couldnt take advantage and Boss Eddie May would have been very disappointed with getting only 1 point from 2 home games this week having already lost 4-1 against Dundee United last Sunday.
Falkirk looked to have turned a corner 2 weeks ago when they got a 1-1 draw at Celtic Park and it was fully deserved as they led for much of the game.But apart from that their form has been poor and they have struggled for goals for much of the season. They have only one win away from home and its hard to see them get anything from this game.
