It’s a Midlands derby as Leicester City host close rivals Coventry City at The Walkers Stadium on Sunday.
Leicester will want to ensure their play-off place remains intact against a Coventry side who have won their last two away matches on the bounce; but more about them later on.
Leicester City (4th) Home 10-5-3 27:13
Firstly, I focus on Leicester and they will be looking to extend their unbeaten run at home to nine matches, following impressive results over Sheffield United 2-1, a resounding 3-0 thumping of arch-rivals Nottingham Forest and a 1-0 victory over Cardiff City.
So that’s three wins against sides in the top seven of the league and it’s no surprise then that their home record stands at 10-5-3 27/13.
Striker Matty Fryatt (11 goals,5 assists) has carried on where he left off in last season’s League One, with other valuable contributors being fellow striker Martin Waghorn (8 goals), Paul Gallagher (6 goals) and midfielders Matt Oakley & Richie Wellens both chiming in with 4 assists each.
Coventry City (10th) Away : 5-4-9 17:27
Coventry City have recovered away from home in recent times too, although their away wins at Crystal Palace & Peterborough (both 1-0) can’t really be a decent yardstick in these circumstances.
Interestingly, all of Coventry’s wins away from home have been against sides lower than them in the league; Barnsley 2-0, Watford 3-2, Plymouth Argyle 1-0 and then the Palace & Posh results.
This would indicate that Coventry are too good to go down but their mid-table position is a true reflection of their abilities to date.
The Sky Blues away record stands at 5-4-9 17/27, with the dangermen being Clinton Morrison (10 goals), Freddy Eastwood (7 goals), along with midfielder Sammy Clingan (5 goals).
The Betting Veridct :
I know it’s a Midlands derby, but Leicester City should have too much quality going forward, as recent results against the top sides have shown.
It’s now time for the Foxes to show their play-off credentials and see off a moderate Coventry side.
