Bohs dropped their first points of the season when held to a 0-0 draw in their last league game at home to Sligo Rovers . But after winning their 3 previous games they are only a point behind St Patricks Athletic who have played a game more.
Bohemians haven't played particularly well in the early weeks but are still already in a very strong position and it shows the quality of the side when they can already be in a strong position despite under performing in the early weeks of the season. A win here and they will leapfrog St Pats back to the top of the table.
On Saturday. Bohs played in the All Ireland Setanta Cup Competition against Linfield and won 2-1 in a tough game which they played poorly in the first half losing 1-0 but came good to win in the end.
Pat Fenlon rested a few of his key players in that game. Strikers Jason Byrne and Paddy Madden return to the squad for this game as does midfielder Glen Cronin who also sat out Saturday's game.
There are injury doubts over a few players including veteran defender Owen Heary, midfielders Stephen Gray and striker Rafaele Cretaro but Bohs will have a strong squad for this top of the table clash.
St Patricks Athletic
St Pats have had a terrific start to the season after enduring a poor league campaign last term. They did have a good Europa Cup run last season but the league was disastrous and they finished below mid table after being runners up the two previous seasons.
Jeff Kenna departed and was replaced by the experienced Pete Mahon as manager. Mahon steadied the side towards the end of the season and has carried that form over to the new season.
St Pats have not even conceded a goal in the 5 games to date and have scored 7. They drew their last 2 games 0-0 after their opening 3 wins. One of those wins came at one of the title contenders and Dublin rivals Shamrock Rovers, however Rovers have started the season poorly.
Mahon got some good signings in during pre-season and some of them have paid off however it hasnt been all pretty to watch but the results are what count.
VERDICT
Despite St Pats excellent start I still fancy Bohs to win this top of the table clash.
SO I'm on BOHS TO WIN and they are available at 4/5 in some places.
You might not get as good a price on a bohs home win again this season. Bohs are still the team to beat in the League Of Ireland.
