Analysis:

Spain the current reigning European Champion will take on Paraguay for a place in the semi-finals of the World Cup. Paraguay having eliminated Japan are already on their best run ever while for Spain they will be seeking to make it just their second ever spot in the last four at a World Cup.

Spain were the winners of the European Championships two years ago and will start this match as the favourites. If they were to win the World Cup, they would create history being the first team to lose their opening match and then go on to win the World Cup.

It must be noted here that Paraguay have been strong at the back having conceded just once in the competition. Upfront they have difficulty scoring managing just 3 goals from four games.

With regards to the team news, Fernando Llorente could start for Spain after impressing off the bench in Tuesday's 1-0 second-round success over Portugal on Tuesday. And we will see Liverpool's Fernando Torres starting alongside Barcelona's new signing David Villa upfront.

Villa, who scored Spain's winner against Portugal, is the tournament's joint-leading scorer with four goals to date. Meanwhile Reserve defender Raul Albiol misses out due to an ankle injury while midfielder Javi Martinez resumed light training after hurting his right ankle a day earlier.

As for Paraguay, they come into this match after keeping three clean sheets and a perfect five-for-five record in the penalty shoot-out against Japan after it finished goalless after extra time.

Paraguay's forwards have yet to score to date in South Africa. The likes of Roque Santa Cruz, Lucas Barrios and Nelson Valdez are feeling the pressure as they have yet to score to date.

Captain Justo Villar will keephis place in goal, while the defence will take the shape with Carlos Bonet, Antolin Alcaraz, Paulo Da Silva and Claudio Morel Rodriguez.
