TAMPA BAY RAYS
(67-41 W/L, 33-18 Road, 7-3 Last 10, L2 Streak)
Matt Garza is the starter for the Rays tonight. The righty has been in great form recently, following up a no-hitter with another excellent effort against the New York Yankees.
Garza struck out 9 batters and walked just 1 in 7 innings in that match to leave him on a confidence high coming into this one.
Since the Rays overtook the Yankees to lead the AL East, the Florida outfit have lost consecutive games to fall back into 2nd place again.
Consistency on the offensive front is proving to be an issue and that once again could pose a problem here, with Pena one of the big names absent once again due to injury.
The Rays bats could once again run into trouble against a very good southpaw pitcher for Toronto.
TORONTO BLUE JAYS
(56-52 W/L, 27-22 Home, 6-4 Last 10, L1 Streak)
Brett Cecil had ERAs of 3.55 and 3.89 in April and May, respectively, then struggled a fair bit in June before returning to form last month.
The left hander will be Torontos starter tonight and while he may not have any wins in his last 3 games, he has performed well, with an ERA of just 2.79.
I think he will do well here tonight and feel like the line of 8.5 is just about right to have a wee punt tonight.
BETTING VERDICT
Under 8.5 runs for me, as I don't see too many men on base in scoring positions tonight and home runs will be very few and far between.
The Pick :
Under 8.5 runs
BEST BETTING TIP :
Take the Under 8.5 runs @ 2.00 (Pinnacle) - MAIN BET
