Montenegro
Montenegro's Assistant Coach Branko Brnovic's words are the best description of the expectations and the atmosphere within the squad of the small Adriatic nation of some 650,000 people.
"The Draw is absolutely no good result for us. Such a result would have negative impact on players and all of us. If we remember previous qualifications and the game against Bulgaria, when we lost the victory in a couple of last minutes (from 3:1 to 3: 3), it is clear that we could only lose with the draw against Wales," Brnovic said.
He claims that in the case of victory against Bulgaria then Montenegro would also have beaten Ireland too two years ago.
"So, the victory is the only thing we are interested in, but it won’t be easy since the Wales is serious team. It is not the same team we won 2:1 last year anymore." Brnovic continued/
Although Montenegro misses its biggest football talent since times of Dejan Savicevic (Milan), the home side still has quality players with Fiorentina's Stevan Jovetic confidence very high and Roma's forward Mirko Vucinic and team captain is in a good shape as well as other forward Radomir Djalovic who scored two goals in last friendly game.
Montenegro won just one of their 10 matches in qualifying for the 2010 World Cup (2-1 at home to Cyprus), but has lost just one of their last six matches at home, winning four.
Wales
The Welsh players have arrived at Podgorica's airport yesterday and will have their first training on the foreign ground tonight at 19:30 in the time when the game is going to be played tomorrow.
Although Wales coach John Toshack will miss six standard players: Danny Gabbidon, Darcy Blake, Andrew Crofts, Brian Stock, Aron Ramzi and Jack Collins the team is not without ambitions, on the contrary some of the players are quite bullish ...
"The group is very difficult, but I believe anyone can beat anyone. If we start well, I hope we can be in the top. Because of that we want all three points from Montenegro. We have good attack and we look very dangerous when we go toward opponent’s goal. I think we can score a lot of goals in these qualifications,' the 24-year old Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder David Edwards told reporters.
Head to Head
The only previous meeting between the sides saw Montenegro run out 2-1 winners in a friendly in Podgorica in August last year, while Wales have drawn none of their last 22 internationals (11 wins, 11 defeats).
