Euro 2012
2011-03-26 - Wales vs England
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Analysis:Wales have faint hopes of reaching the Euro 2012 Finals as they welcome the visit of neighbours England to the Millenium Stadium.
After starting out with three defeats, Wales have a mountain to climb if they are to qualify for a major tournament. Wales has tasted defeat in their last four matches. Their confidence is low especially when they have scored just once in those four games.
Gary Speed who took charge of the national side from John Toshack will hope the side can raise their game when England visits. He will hope that a full house will raise the home team spirits and is just the tonic his side needs.
England enters this match knowing that that they have won in the last two meetings between the two nations - during qualification for the 2006 World Cup.
They have, however, alternated between victory and defeat on their last five visits to Wales and should that record to continue this weekend, they would leave with nothing.
However, England's recent away record suggests they are capable of avoiding that trend. That was with a defeat in the Ukraine after they had already booked their place at the 2010 World Cup representing the only setback they have suffered on their travels in their last six outings.
England have scored a lot of goals of late with the exception of Montenegro and Algeria having kept them out in their last 13 fixtures.
Should the Three Lions win this weekend against Wales then they are good to take top spot of Group G on goal difference, with current leaders Montenegro not in action.
As for the team news, for Wales, the news that Tottenham winger Gareth Bale has suffered a hamstring injury and will play no part on Saturday has come as a major blow to the hosts. The good news is that Arsenal's midfielder Aaron Ramsey is available again and will be the Captain of the side. This will make him Wales youngest ever Captain.
Sam Vokes will be hoping for a starting berth after replacing the injured Robert Earnshaw in the Wales squad. He will have to compete with Steve Morison, Simon Church and Ched Evans for a starting spot.
Meanwhile for England, John Terry has been handed the Captaincy once again which grabbed the headlines in England. He is back as the Captain some 13 months after he was replaces by Rio Ferdinand. That was due to the fact that Ferdinand and Gerrard being out with injuries.
West Brom's Scott Carson was brought into the squad after Birmingham goalkeeper Ben Foster withdraw from the squad on Friday with a throat infection. Meanwhile, Everton's Phil Jagielka is expected to take Ferdinand's slot, while youngsters Jack Wilshere and Andy Carroll are pushing for a start.
Kyle Walker, currently taking in a loan spell at Aston Villa, and Wolves winger Matt Jarvis will be hoping to feature at some stage in Cardiff.
Take Wales on the handicap to prevail here.
Cheers and good luck,
