Football : Scottish Premier League
Saturday 13/08/2011 - Kickoff 12.45 (local)
Inverness CT
By all accounts big Terry Butcher was fuming that Caly Thistle didn't come away from Dunfermline last weekend with a win despite scoring three times. I imagine Gregory Tade was hiding in the changing rooms after he stupidly decided to get the last touch on a goalward bound shot and caused the effort to be disallowed for offside.
Ultimately Inverness were denied a victory by a last minute free kick curled into the top corner which earnt Dunfermline a share of the points.
Greg Tansey showed what a good player he is and got a couple of goals but it was the defending that will be the main worry for Inverness having now conceded three goals twice in three league games.
They are going into this game with Rangers currently sitting bottom of the table with just one point so they will be determined to take something from the match.
Inverness CT will be without Kenny Gillet and David Proctor who both have hamstring injuries.
Possible Inverness CT Lineup :
Esson, Piermayr, Hogg, Tokely, Aldred, Hayes, Tansey, Tudor Jones, Doran, Foran Tade (4-4-2)
Rangers
The pressure is already starting to build for Rangers manager Ally McCoist after only four competitive matches in charge. Their failure to qualify for the Champions League, for me, was an absolute disaster not only in footballing terms but also financially.
The revenue it would have guaranteed would have allowed Rangers to bolster their squad which is looking desperately thin. Indeed now McCoist is having to scrape about trying to sign loan players.
They have some defensive problems for the trip to the highlands with Sasa Papac ruled out and Steven Wittaker and Dave Weir looking unlikely to play. They do though have Goian back fit and Kyle Bartely could be thrown straight in after his return for a second loan spell from Arsenal.
Possible Rangers lineup :
McGregor, Wallace, Bartley, Broadfoot, Goian, Ortiz, Davis, McCulloch, Edu, Naismith, Jelavic (4-4-1-1)
THE BETTING VERDICT
The last six matches played between the two sides in Inverness have produced : 4 wins for Rangers, 1 win for Inverness CT and 1 draw.
I'm expecting a close game here with Inverness CT's main objective being to try and improve defensively. They will be looking to keep things tight for as long as possible and see what develops.
I think that Rangers main attacking trio of Jelavic, Davies and Naismith will be the differnce here and I will take them for a win although I am not prepared to consider Rangers covering any sort of handicap until they can improve their form.
Be aware that the weather may play a part as well, it has been raining all week in Scotland and the pitch conditions could be bad. With this in mind consideration should be give to under 2.5 goals in this match.
The Pick :
Inverness CT 0 -1 Rangers
BEST BETTING TIP :
Main bet :Let's keep it simple Take Rangers to win
Also consider under 2.5 goals @ 2.00 (bet365)
